Get test-TOG#
Test-TOG is the token of the TOG testnet. It is free, has no value and cannot be bought, sold or exchanged. You need it to pay for test jobs and to bond a worker or validator.
What you need#
An account address: 40 hexadecimal digits. An account is a 32-byte random key; its address comes from tog-cli:
mkdir -p ~/tog && cd ~/tog
(umask 077; head -c 32 /dev/urandom > owner.key)
tog-cli address owner.key
Only the address goes to the faucet. Never send a key file to anyone; see Keys and security.
Use the web page#
Open faucet.theonlygrid.com, paste your address and request test-TOG. The page tells you when the transfer is in a block.
Use the command line#
The same faucet answers a plain HTTP request. Send the address as the body of a POST to /drip:
curl -X POST --data <YOUR_ADDRESS> https://faucet.theonlygrid.com/drip
Then check your balance (the client.toml file is described in Connecting to the testnet):
tog-cli account <YOUR_ADDRESS> --config client.toml --data-dir ~/tog/cli
Limits#
| Public testnet | |
|---|---|
| Amount per request | 10 100 test-TOG (a worker's 10 000 bond plus fees) |
| How often | Once a day per address and once a day per IP address |
The faucet's answers:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
200 |
The transfer is in a block |
400 |
The address is not 40 hex digits (a 0x prefix is fine) |
429 |
This address or IP already received test-TOG today. The Retry-After header says how many seconds to wait |
503 |
The faucet is busy or empty, or the transfer did not land. Try again later |
Running several workers?
Each worker needs its own owner account with its own bond. The faucet allows one request per IP address a day, so request for each owner address on a different day, or ask the team if you plan to run many.
