The Only Grid documentation#
Guides for people who run machines on The Only Grid (TOG) and for developers who build on it. Everything here is written for the testnet: commands, configuration keys and file names are the ones the current release accepts.
What TOG is#
TOG is a Layer 0 network. One chain, the TOG Hub, orders and finalizes every chain connected to it and runs one shared market for compute and storage. Application chains (AppChains) built with the TOG SDK share the Hub's security from their first block. Independent machines, the Grid, run container jobs and store the data those jobs need, and the network checks their results before anyone is paid.
The Architecture page explains how the parts fit together.
Where the network is#
| Phase | When | Who can join |
|---|---|---|
| Closed testnet | October 2026 | Machines run by the TOG team only |
| Public testnet | 1 January 2027 | Outside validators, compute workers and developers |
| Mainnet | Target Q2 2027, after independent audits | Everyone |
Dates are targets. The Networks page lists each network's parameters and public endpoints as they are published.
Placeholders
Values that do not exist yet, such as the public testnet's bootnodes and genesis hash, are written as <PLACEHOLDER>. They are filled in on these pages when the public testnet launches.
Test-TOG#
The testnet runs on test-TOG, a test token with no value. You get it free from the faucet. It pays for test jobs and is what workers and validators lock as a bond. It cannot be bought, sold or exchanged.
How these docs are organized#
- Get started: what TOG is, the networks, and how to get test-TOG.
- Run a node: compute workers and validators, from requirements to troubleshooting.
- Build: running jobs, the
tog-clicommand reference, and the AppChain SDK. - Reference: key safety and a glossary of terms.
